Urban Jungle

2017

It is quite typical that in the 21st-century urban lifestyle expels nature from our living space. The natural environment is narrowing because of the construction of industrial plants. This is the direct consequence of excessive urbanization, which has caused a lack of space. People wanted to offset the situation by bringing the natural habitat into their homes so that they could restore an environment that they had extinguished. There are various ways to do so, e.g. applying natural plants or bringing in artificial plants. Such environments have been found in unusual places, for example, in a bathroom or a bedroom of a downtown flat.

In this series, I had a different approach than I did in my diploma. Here I worked with artificial and engineering spaces. I did not want to turn the lights on the artificiality of the present in a natural environment but instead, do the total opposite. Focus on nature appearing in artificial spaces. The process of bringing plants into our homes creates a double medium because people emerge their own artificial elements with plants.

We are building spaces to be our resorts so that they can protect us from savage nature, this being said, we still stick to the spectacle of nature. We are seeking its presence and in order to achieve this, we bring nature back in favour of our own comfort and calmness.
